Due Regard
All CSFD emergency vehicle shall be operated in accordance with Colorado Revised Statute 42-4-108
all emergency vehicle must be operated within safe and controlled speeds at all times. This includes the use of emergency lights and sirens during an emergent response.
Vehicle Speed
-must be operated at speeds allowing the diver operateor to retain control at all times taking into account all variables.
-road condition
-precipitation
-lighting/visibility
-traffic volume
-size and characteristics of vehicle
-Road grade
-blind intersections
-pedestrians
Controlled Intersections
the emergency vehicle will slow down as may be necessary before entering and proceeding through intersection. can only processed through intesections when accounting for all lanes of traffic.
Lights and Sirens
CRS 42-4-108. used when vehicle is being driven contrary to the rules of the road, the traffic exceptions
Seat belts
must have all passengers belted.
Unimproved Roads
do not operate on
Wheel Chocks
used anytime vehicle is parked outside of station minimum of 1 wheel chocked on both sides
Reduced Speed Zones
School Zone- adhere to all traffic signs and speed limits due to life safety hazard
Construction Zones- take into consideration all vehicle speed considerations pedestrians, traffic volumn, lighting, rod condition etc.
School Bus
Stop 20 ft before and remained stopped untill school bus stop signs and lights are off then proceed with caution.
