2 of : Delusions, Hallucinations, disorganized speech, disorganized behaviour, negative symptoms- lack of speech, emotion, empathy inappropriate affect.
- Needs to persist 3 weeks of 1 month

What is a delusion and what are the most common ones?

A

Delusions: are false beliefs that are sustained in the face of evidence that would normally destroy them. Most common are persecution, grandeur, jealousy

A

False perceptions that seem real. Some sort of perceived stimuli most common is auditory but there is also tactile, visual and smell

A

Can have genetic predisposition but it may not be triggered until a stressful event which will bring the onset.
High risk of suicide as 20% attempt and 5-6% succeed.

in-between schizophrenia and a mood disorder. 2 types:

  • Bipolar 1: manic episodes, not in accordance with personality
  • Bipolar 2: hypomanic (manic light). In accordance with personality but heightened

Elevated, expansive or irritable mood for atleast 1 week.

- Grandiosity, poor sleep, distractibility (racing thoughts), reckless behaviour
