Examples of management

A

1977-major project completed which consisted of a sea wall, breakwaters and groynes due to the power of longshore drift. This protected properties on the cliff such as Sunny Point road (average house price of £400,000)
Cliff was regraded to provide a gentler slope
Drainage channels installed to allow water to flow underground through special tunnels and out onto the beach through holes in the sea wall
Planting vegetation including nettles and gorse to stop people scrambling on the cliff
Seawall at bottom of the cliff to protect the London Clay
1998-Council payed £167,000 for 300 tonnes of granite to be placed around Tower breakwater
1999-replenishment of beach in front of the cliffs at the northern part of the coastline with sand and gravel
