What causes Atrophy? Swelling?
Ischemia
Reduced drainage
What are the causes of Leg ulcers?
Venous insufficiency 45-60%
Arterial Insuff 10-20%
What are the risk factors of Leg ulcers?
Smoking and obesity
What are the traits of Arterial Ulcers?
Peripheral arterial dis on lower leg in areas of pressure Punched out Loss of hair Diminished/absent pulses Claudication
What is the Tx of Arterial Ulcers?
Surgery for resoration or reconst of BV. STOP Smoking, Control DM, HTN, Hyperlipidemia
Weight Loss, Exercise
What are risk factors for venous insufficiency?
FHx, Age, Female, Preggo, Obesity, Prolonged standing, Height
What are early signs of Venous insufficiency?
Tenderness, edema, Hyperpigmentation, Telangectasias, Varicose Veins
What are late signs of Venous insufficiency?
Lipodermatosclerosis
Venous ulcers
Porcelain white atrophic scars
What are the Tx of Venous ulcers?
Address cause: Leg elevation, moist wound, Topical steroids for dermatitis
What are the risk factors of Diabetic Foot ulcers?
Smoking, past foot ulcers, PVD, Prev amputation, poor glycemic control, periph neuropathy, visual impaired
What are the traits of Infectious purpura?
N. Meningitidis
Sign of DIC
Many causes. will be internal purpura (WFS)
What is the most common systemic vasculitis in children?
Henoch-Schonlein Purpura

Polyarteritis Nodosa
