  • He lost authority following rebellions.
  • Retreated with Edward to Winsor (6th Oct)
  • Edward abandoned him, and he was arrested shortly. (13th Oct)

A
  • He deposed many of the Catholic members of the Privy Council to get a Protestant majority.
  • Plot in early 1550 to remove him allowed him to dismiss enemies ( like Earl of Arundel and Southampton)

What happened to Somerset once Northumberland took power?

A
  • Pardoned Somerset, got him out of prison, goods restored and placed in Privy Council once again.
  • N’s son married Sst’s daughter.
  • Involved in plot and as a result executed in Jan 1552.
