the parietal pericardium….

A
  • cont. with the tunica adventitia
  • leaves the heart via the pretracheal layer and cervical fascia
  • outer part is fibrous
  • inner part is serous layer covered by mesothelial cells
  • pericardial membrane attaches on the parietal pleura
  • connected to the diaphragm by the pericardiophrenic ligament

  • arterious > at the division of the p. trunk and the start of the aortic arch
  • venous > begins at the IVC & extends up to the lower R. pulmonary vein and extends SVC where the azygous vein enters
