Roman Catholics and Buddhists believe life begins in the moment of conception as Roman Catholics believe this the when ensoulment happens and for Buddhists this is when consciousness arises
When the foetus takes the form of a human or when it starts moving
Some religious people this it is when the embryo develops structure and traits of a human such as back bone or heart beating, they believe this Is when it should be given human rights

What are Christian beliefs on abortion?

A

Roman Catholics believe in the Doctrine of Double Effect, this is means that unfortunate consequences can arise from a good act that has good intention, they could have an abortion if the mother’s life was in danger and the baby was ultimately destroyed because of that action
The Anglican church believe in the lesser of the two effects

The law states that you can only terminate a pregnancy before 24 weeks, after this time the foetus is viable – life begins at 24 weeks after this stage the foetus has moral status.

Pro - choice - organisations campaign for a woman’s right to choose, they believe that it is there body and they have a right to an abortion e.g. abortion rights
Pro-life – is an alliance who campaign against abortion, they stand for parliament, they campaign and hold vigils outside abortion clinics.
