What is congruence

A

It refers to the match or compatibility between an individual’s vocational personality type and the environment of their work.

High congruence is linked to job satisfaction. NOT JOB PERFORMANCE

Q

How the fuck does it work

A

Take a psychometric test = Self-Directed Search (SDS)

you get a 3 letter code like RCA which is the 3 highest scores from RIASEC.

RCA = R > C > A > ….

Then there’s the dictionary of Holland Occupational Codes basically linking “appropriate” jobs to codes.

Q

Negatives of theory

A

GENERAL:
- needs more emphasises on context
- assumes similarity between same occupations across different organisations
- 6 types are limited
- seems like “an answer” not a direction taking into account of personalisation.

SA:
- needs to emphasise context like poverty, economy.
- assume freedom of choice of occupations ( work vs career kak)
- colour wheel

Q

COLOUR WHEEEEL

A

so this hex shit works like colour wheel. order matters.
RIASEC. so its grouped together. Like realistic kinda matches investigative and conventional.

SO this hex organisation might not apply to all contexts.

Example: A rural youth who helps on a family farm
They do hands-on work with animals and tools (Realistic)
And they might help teach younger siblings how to do tasks (Social)

but RS not “related” so its seen as conflicting interests.
