What is a font?
A different style of typeface. For example, the typeface can be in capital and lower case letters and can be made italic, bold, hold italic, and darker or finer.

This is the style of text, such as Times New Roman or serif which has the added edges to letters.
What do typefaces such as serif show?
Serif shows a professional company and the use of serif shows a classical text. This portrays quality and tradition as this style was used with ink in the past.
What is sans serif? What does it show?
This is the same font but minus the use of serif. Times New Roman with no ends to the letters. This lacks extra strokes and is used by the Sun to represent fun and a lack of seriousness
What’s script? Give an example and explain the points.
This is handwritten, such as the virgin logo, so this can make the company seem friendly and trusting. It is harder to read.
What is the stem?
The back of a letter such as P - the line in P
What are serifs?
These are added to letters, such as the end of the top line on a capital T.
What is an arm?
This connects stems in letters.ie - H
What is a curve?
A curved part of a letter - C
What is a continuous curve?
O - a full curve.
What is kerning?
This is the space between letters. A large space makes the words distracting and less fluent, but a smaller space makes the works merge.
What is text measured in ?
Text is measured in points. One point equals 1/72 of an inch.
How can text be changed?
It can be made narrower, wider, more BOLD, or darker, according to the company’s style.
