Q

in order for viruses to reproduce they must complete these 4 steps

Q

absorption and penetration of virus

A

viruses are completely internalized, capsid and nuclei acid

-by endocytosis or by fusion of the virion envelope with the host cell membrane

Q

transcription, translation, and replication of RNA viruses

positive strand process

A

positive stranded rna viruses

  • equiv to preformed messenger RNA
  • as soon as invade cell they are ready for translation
  • use host cell’s ribosomal proteins and enzymes to ranslate positve RNA into RNA dependent RNA polymerase, to make neg strand copies of their RNA and also more positive strands

negative stranded rna viruses: need viral rna dependent RNA polymerase to make positive strand copy
