Q

Should you loop over the post on BS?

A

Yes but do not break the glass by lifting arms above the glass. The loop is a very subtle loop to begin your path at 30 degrees into the ball. Do not exaggerate it. Just start the club down making absolutely certain it is coming in as an inside to out swing path. [MN] On my longer clubs, I really want to swing down from the top of BS so guard against this.

Q

How should I practice my swing?

A

Practice BS/DS for 30 minutes a day for one week. This also is a great stretching exercise to give me the feel and prevent injuries.

Q

Is DS a different plane than BS?

A

Yes. The DS is much flatter and comes in to ball at 30 degrees rather than following the target line straight back down to the ball. Following the target line straight down to the ball would cause a bad out to in swing from the top.

Q

What should I do with my hands during the swing.

A

Keep all conscious action out of swing, it breaks the chain of torque you built up. Remember you cannot control face of club at impact. It is folly and much too fast to see.

Q

On DS, where should my R. elbow go?

A

It should gravity drop with the bump BUTT and gravitate to your RHS pocket watch. This must be an unconscious effort. Just know it goes there and brushes the watch pocket. If you concentrate on it, it keeps the clubface open resulting in a bad slice. Your concentration SB on the inside 30 degree path to lower left quadrant of the ball.

Q

Where do my arms go on DS?

A

Push the triangle up, then PULL the triangle down. On your shoulder snap, you will be pulling the club into the ball with loaded force. Keep your arms glued to your body! Examples on P. 106 and 107.
There is a practice drill on PP. 82-85 for keeping arms to body.

Q

What do I do with the triangle on impact?

A

You hold the triangle you are pulling into the ball. You keep arms close to body and holding the triangle, you impact the ball with equal force. Remember Martin K. practicing with the tennis ball forcing him to hold the triangle into impact.

Q

How do I hit with equal power?

A

To get equal power you pull with left to square clubface. Remember Professor Martin talking about the pull when club is parallel?
