Cardiovascular System Flashcards

1
Q

List the primary functions of the cardiovascular system.

A

•Pumping action

  • Pumps blood into body and lungs.
  • Receives blood from the body and the lungs
  • Promotes blood pressure

• Transportation

  • Provides channels through which blood and lymph travel

Q

Be able to list the structure of the heart: chambers, valves, septum, SA nodes, AV nodes, bundle his, purkinje fibers.

A
•Chambers: 2 upper- Atria
                    2 lower- ventricle
•Valves:
- Tricuspid
- mitral / bicuspid
- pulmonary
-aortic

•SA node= sinoatrial node
-top of the Rt atrium
60-100bpm

•AV node= atrioventricular node
- bottom of Rt atrium

  • Bundle of his- in septum
  • Purkinje fibers- Through lower septum and ventricles
