  • bacterial infection of endocardium & valves causing inflammation
  • Causing inflm of endocardium (most internal layer of muscle tissue) & valves

A
  • Bacteria must enter & survive in cardiovascular system (through dental/ medical procedure, IV drug users)
  • need adherence to surface eg. defective valves, heart surgery, sutures
