Galvanic skin response

A

evidence of emotional arousal obtained by attaching electrodes to any part of the skin and recording momentary changes in perspiration and other functions of the autonomic nervous system

Q

Principles behind using polygraphs as lie detector

A

Deceptive answers will produce physiological responses that can be differentiated from those associated with non-deceptive answers

Q

Important aspects of setting up the lie detection

A

Calibration period. An anxious person will have different score level and people will also be stressed because of the situation

Q

Biofeedback training

A

A learning process whereby people learn to exert conscious control over physiological processes normally controlled by the autonomic nervous system. The subject can use the received signal to enhance the desired response. The biofeedback training allows the subjects to be able to regulate certain autonomic processes; control headache, lower blood pressure, lower heart rate and manage responses to stressful situations
