Hollywood was the entertainment capitol. Most glamorous public figures were “movie stars”. 1920’s, first time people heard voices at the movies .

Oct. 1929. People lose faith in businesses, banks, democracy, and Hoover is blamed. Economic breakdown im US leads to economic breakdown all over the world.

Republican candidate. Supporter of prohibition. Says depression is the result of a world condition. Says prosperity will come. Says Roosevelt is radical. Evacuates bonus army.
