A

Type of gastric bypass

Iron deficiency common (especially in women) because most iron is absorbed in small intestine (duodenum) which is now bypassed

Peritoneal Dialysis

A

Used to remove waste when kidneys no longer can

Uses lining of abdomen (peritoneum) and a cleaning solution (dialysate) to clean blood.

Dialysate absorbs waste and fluid from blood, peritoneum filters

MNT: dialysate contains glucose that body absorbs, so observe BG levels and CHO intake
