What is a mallory weiss tear?
A
tear in the mucosa at the junction of the stomach and the oesophagus

management of decrease BP and increased HR
A
stat fluid challenge, 500ml over 5mins. wait fro response, repeat if necessary
(if myocardial, initially only give 250ml)

factors that may suggest aetiology
A
NSAID/aspirin use: small bowel mucosal damage, diverticular bleeding
Preceeding hypovolaemia: ischeamic collitis
Previous vascular surgery: aorto-colic fistulae
