What is the difference between passive diffusion and facilitated diffusion?

A

Passive diffusion is when the molecules go straight through the cell membrane, and facilitated is when the molecule has to go through proteins.

What are hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic solutions?

A

Hypertonic solutions are solutions that have more solute than the other side of the membrane. Hypotonic is when the solution has less solute than the other side. Isotonic is when the solution has the same amount of solute compared to the other side.
