Q

what are the equations that make up the square of fun?

A

pH+pOH=14
pH=-log[H+]
[H+]=10^-pH
pOH=-log[OH-]
[OH-]=10^-pOH
[H+][OH-]=1x10^-14

Q

what is the formula for titration and how is it different from the regular formula?

A

MacidVacid(#H+)=MbaseVbase(#OH-)
you need to look in the chemical equation for the values used for H+ and OH-

Q

what do you need to know for writing reactions?

A
  • include charges if applicable!!!
  • if there is a dissociation eqn with an H anywhere in the formulas know that H+ will be one of your products and base the rest of the equation on that
  • whenever there’s an acd-base neutralization H2O should be the only place where you see H in the products
