Q

What type of process is diffusion?

A

Passive process - no energy is needed for it to happen

Q

How does the concentration gradient affect diffusion?

A

The higher it is, the faster the rate. However as it moves towards equilibrium the gradient gets smaller and therefore over time the rate slows down

Q

How does the thickness of the exchange surface affect diffusion?

A

The thinners it is (I.e the shorter the distance the particles have to travel) the faster the rate

Q

How does temperature affect diffusion?

A

The higher it is, the faster the rate as the particles have more kinetic energy to move/diffuse
