A

Type I IVDD: acute, painful, paresis/plegia

Type II IVDD: chronic, progressive, ataxia

Who is at risk for myelomalacia? What are the clinical signs?

A

Dogs with loss of DPP

Loss of reflexes with TL panniculus

Extreme pain/mentation change

Increased body temperature

Abdominal breathing

A

Conservative management: pain only, still ambulatory, or has other concurrent disease that would stop you from doing sx

Treatment for bladder dysfunction associated with T3-L3 or L4-S3 spinal lesions?

A

T3-L3: Prazosin, phenoxybenzamine, diazepam, bladder expression TID

L4-S3: Dribbling urine, can express bladder easily
