Outline the steps involved in transcription

A
  • DNA unwinds in the region of the gene to be transcribed
  • RNA nucleotides are attracted to the exposed nucleotides of the gene due to base complementarity
  • RNA polymerase constructs RNA from the nucleotides but forming phosphodiester bonds between nucleotides
  • DNA reforms
  • mRNA leaves the nucleus
