Needs to be Group A beta haemolytic
These carry the M protein virulence factor
- Nephritogenic

Pathology?
A
Type 3 hypersensitivity
- Immune complexes deposited in GBM
- C3 compliment laid down
- Cytokines and proteases damage GBM so large molecules filtered through

Symptoms of post infective?
A
Nephritic state

What is the nephritic state?
A
- Haematuria
- Proteinuria
- Oliguria

Signs?
A
Periorbital and peripheral oedema
