Paper 3 Flashcards

1
Q

How to work out the peak to peak voltage on an oscilloscope?

A

Count the number of blocks from the bottom of one tough to the top of the corresponding peak. Then times by the volts per division.

Q

How would you work out the frequency from an oscilloscope?

A

Frequency=1/the time period
Work out the time period by measuring along the x-axis the size of a whole wavelength.
Then use the frequency formula.

Q

How can you work out the time constant from an oscilloscope?

A

Work out the peak voltage times this by 0.37
Then work out where 0.37 of the peak voltage is, when in comparison to where the capacitor started to discharge. Work out the time from starting to discharge to the voltage value. Then times this time value by the time divide on the oscilloscope.
