Q

What type of chemical reaction would you use for finding the solubility product and why?

A

Figure out what is the dissolution equation and solve for that k. This is because by definition solubility is off of how much a solid dissolves/disassociates

Q

In electrolysis, how do u determine whether oxygen will form from the electrolysis with water or if the byproduct will form from the electrolysis of the impure substance?

A

Compare their ecell voltages. The potential will tell u which one favors oxidation/reduction

Q

How could u figure out how much moles of electrons a process uses from the amps and time the process has occured?

A

mol e-=I*t/F, where I is in ampere and t is in seconds, f is faradays constant

Q

The Gibbs free energy is equivalent to what and why?

A

Free energy = -nFEcell. This is because in a reversible non expansion process (electrical work), the free energy is equal to the work process. Remember from physics that work is -qdV for electronics, so if dV is ecell, and nF is the charge, then you get that equation
