Four basic principles are used to strengthen intrinsic motivation:
- expressions of empathy
- development of discrepancy
- rolling with resistance
- supporting self-efficacy
what are community wide campaigns?
- conducting health risk appraisals
- conducting fitness appraisals
- training health care professionals
- community health and wellness fairs
goal setting
- goals should be challenging yet realistic
- goals should be very specific
- exercisers should receive feedback regarding progress toward the goal
action planning
entails forming concrete plans that specify when, where and how a person will translate exercise intentions into action
implementation intentions
involve developing a strong mental association between a situational cue and a specific behavior.
self mentoring
simply refers to paying attention to ones own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and gauging these against a standard.
RE-AIM
reach (% of ppl in population)
effectiveness (efficacy)
adoption (setting)
implementation (how well the intervention is delivered in the real world)
maintenance (the extent to which the intervention is sustained overtime)
