what can alter the rhythm of breathing?

  • pnuemothorax, collapsed lung
  • pain

  • hemothorax, blood taking up the cavity

why do we not want shallow breathing.

A

as it means youre breathing faster and therefore not as much o2 coming in or co2 going out therefore poor ventilation.

If a pt is using accessory muscle why does it mean theyre struggling

A

as kemo receptors see the increase in co2 so the cns makes accessory muscles go.
