Henry VII created a tribunal where his councillors and judges could enforce the law against those who considered themselves above it, overmighty subjects

Used oaths tests to test loyalty. Act of Succession included the oath of recognising the children of Henry and Anne Boleyn

Established Elizabeth’s councillors during a plot against her by MQS so that if Elizabeth was assassinated, none of those associated with the crime could benefit from it
How did the Act for Dissolution of the Monasteries (1536 and 1540) ensure the support of the gentry?
Sold monastic lands to them, TC linking their fortunes to the crown, meant they kept peace in their own districts

Introduced the death penalty for all those who wanted King dead, whether through actual plotting or simply words or writing

Made it high treason to deny Elizabeth’s title as queen. Redefined treason to include anyone who drew the allegiance of the English subjects away from queen
