A

do not have access to government so campaign to get their point across, can take part in demonstrations, marches, protests

protests in uk have doubled since 2010, in the 80’s 70% of protests were carried out by workers, in 2015 80% of protests are regarding environmental actions and activists

Fathers4Justice group supporting single fathers and often get police attention for their actions
results in media attention meaning awareness about their cause is raised potentially gaining more supporters
doesn’t guarantee support showing limited influence

Scottish and uk parliament both use them
they are widely used showing the influence they have
38 degrees also makes them - petition banning trump for visiting UK got over half a million signatures - huge number of people shows that sites are used widely and people who are passionate for a certain change will sign a petition.

Successful petitions are often discussed in parliament showing that E-petitions can influence government, however in 2017 only 7 petitions led to or coincided with government action

A

Twitter is a way to spread rapid reaction to events and of sharing political views with a wide audience

Social media is taken more seriously as a factor to influence government choices due to politicians using it also as a main way of communicating with their supporters - Nicola Sturgeon has just under 950k followers
