Hypothyroidism / pt is still symptomatic when on synthetic T4
Thyroid USP
Hypothyroidism and want the “natural product”
Methimazole
Grave’s Disease
Propylthiouracil
Used during 1st trimester of pregnancy and lactation
Used for thyroid storm or in pts who don’t tolerate Methimazole
Beta Blockers
Recommended for pts w/ resting HR > 90bpm or concurrent heart dz
Pick some non-selective ones to help with the symptoms of hyperthyroidism (i.e. tremors, tachy, etc)
Calcium channel blockers
Used in patients who can’t tolerate B-blockers
Dopamine Agonists
Hyperprolactinemia
Somatostatin Analogs
Acromegaly–Give if a pt can’t get a resection or to give to decrease levels before surgery
GH Receptor Antagonist
GH pituitary adenoma
Recombinant Growth Hormone
Growth hormone deficiency (rare)
Phenoxybenzamine
Pheochromocytoma– adrenal tumor hypersecreting catecholamines
Hydrocortisone
Adrenal insufficiency (Addison’s)
Calcium gluconate
Treats calcium deficiencies
Calcitriol
Hypocalcemia
