Q

how effectively did tufor government deal with unrest

A

frequency declined so they were effective
relied on nobility and gentry to put down unrest. through rewards and patronage government was able to build up support
government not always effective as forced into battle at stoke and blackheath. military force was ineffective in ireland - tyrone took 9 years
negotiations to offer pardons varied in effectiveness. those protesting against the amicable grant dispersed when the tax was lifted
norfolk negotiated with pilgrims
government treatment of english rebels was ineffective. treatment of ireland was very ineffective they had little understanding of their grievances
the seizure of the lands and heavy fines did not deter unrest but made it more prominent and allowed desmond and tyrone to exploit it
