Q

Treatment of hypercalcemia

A
  • move
  • fluids to prevent kidney stones
  • phospo soda & fleet enema both hav phosphorous
  • Calcium has inverse relationship w/phosporous (when u drive up phos, calcium goes down)
  • steroids:decrease calcium
  • Add phosporous/protein rich items to diet
  • Safety precautions: PT IS SEDATED W/ HYPERCALCEMIA
  • must hav vitamin D to use Ca 1000 units per day
  • Calcitonin to decrease serum Ca drive calcium back into the bone
