A

-does the scale measure what it’s intended to

convergent validity: does the scale correlate with other measures of life satisfaction

  • correlation between self-reports and informant reports of satisfaction
  • correlation between higher scores and fewer negative events and higher positive events

known groups: individuals who theoretically should have lower satisfaction score lower on the scale and vice versa
-people in jail score lower

ability to predict future behaviors

  • higher levels of satisfaction = less suicide and lower mortality rates
  • higher levels of satisfaction = higher rates of kids and marriage

A

1) consent: patient must give consent
2) confidentiality: results disclosed to patient only
3) counseling: high quality pretest info and posttest counseling
4) correct test results: take precautions to ensure accurate testing
5) connection to prevention: needs to be efforts to provide preventative measures

what is the corticosteroid pathway in fight or flight

A
  • hypothalamus sends signals to pituitary/ “master” gland which secretes ACTH
  • stimulates the adrenal cortex which leads to secretion of glucocorticoids (like cortisol) that prevent inflammation
