Q

Describe legg-calf perthes disease and it’s relation to vasculature of hip

A

obturator A. supplies head of femur via teres ligament (round lig. of head of femur) - prior to age 10 this is the only supply - if damaged –> avascular necrosis of femoral head

Q

List the ligaments of the hip

A
  • ischiofemoral lig - anterior controls hip ext., abd., and lat. rot.; post. controls med. rot.,
  • pubofemoral lig
  • iliofemoral lig (sup. and inf bands)
