A

Chronic dilation and loss of muscle tone
Muscle cannot contract properly
Cannot actively transport food
Protective lung reflexes disrupted

Results in

  • food/saliva accumulation
  • regurgitation
  • aspiration pneumonia

Hx/cs/exam
Bloods for underlying cause
- ACTH stim. And lytes (k+:Na+) for addisons
- antibody titre for MG
Endoscopy
