EOE/IOE Flashcards

Students will be able to identify features of the oral cavity that are covered as part of the IOE. Students will be able to identify features of the head and neck that are covered as part of the EOE. Students will be able to identify findings that are associated with these examinations. Students will be able to describe the two major parts/processes of the EOE/IOE.

Pillars of fauces (tonsilar pillars)

A

Old term palatal arches

Anterior- fold of tissure in the front of the palantine tonsils that extends from soft palate to the tongue

Posterior- fold of tissue behind the palatine tonsils that extends from the soft palate to the muscular wall of the pharynx. Can’t usually see.

A

Two masses of lymphoid tissue located on the side of the throat.
