A

A change in a person’s behaviour/opinion as a result of pressure from a person/group

Define ‘Internalisation’.

A

Deep conformity.
Individual takes on majority view; accepts it as correct.
Leads to long-lasting, permanent change in behaviour, even in absence of group.

Define ‘Identification’.

A

Moderate conformity.
Individual copies the group’s behaviour as he values the group and wants to be a part of it.
Individual doesn’t agree with everything the group believes.

A

Superficial, temporary conformity.
Individual publicly agrees with group, but privately disagrees.
Change in behaviour only lasts in presence of group.
