  • BCCNP maintains a strict records-access policy to maintain the security and confidential of all information
  • the philosophy governing access to registrant records is that BCCNP will release all records except when the provisions of the act protect the record, or any part of the record.
  • all records related to schools, staff or registrants are considered personal records. As a result, they are protected through security and confidentiality mechanisms, as well as adherence to the provisions of the act.

practice standard: use of LPN title

A
  • the nurses (LPN) regulation authorizes BCCNP registrants to use a reserved title to show that they have met BCCNP’s registration requirements. BCCNP bylaws establish classes of registrants. only those individuals who have met BCCNP’s requirements for registration can use a protected title
  • when BCCNP grants registration to LPN’s it entitles them to practice nursing in BC
  • BCCNP’s public registry enables the public to verify an individuals registrations status
  • LPN’s may also use the title “nurse” or “practical nurse; however, using “LPN” most accurately reflects your practices
