Q

Briefly, how does the corticospinal tract work?

A

UMN from cortex synapses at LMN at spinal cord, which allows voluntary movement

Q

In the corticospinal tract, how do UMN reach LMN?

A
  1. Leave motor cortex via posterior limb of internal capsule
  2. Descend to middle ⅓ of cerebral peduncle
  3. Travel down anterior pons and medulla
  4. Decussate in pyramids of medulla
  5. Synapse at LMN in spinal cord
