Modern Age Information Warfare in depth Flashcards

1
Q

General Premises

A

Information Warfare is not a new concept. Information Warfare dates back to at least the industrial age (industrial espionage and the like).
Let’s say if a corporation invents a CPU, and to do this, they’ve invested a substantial amount of money, time, and resources into the development of this CPU, and then an opposing corporation is able to covertly steal the designs of the CPU or the CPU itself and then reverse-engineer it and put their own label on it, then that thieving corporation would have a significant advantage over the other because they both now posses the same product and technology, except that the thieving corporation did not have to invest remotely as much to obtain that product.

Hacker takes information from entity A, transfers said information to entity B.

Q

What are the two types of Information Warfare strategies ?

Define them.

A

Offensive strategies and defensive strategies

(Each category of Information Warfare can be defined as either an offensive or defensive strategy).

An offensive strategy is fairly simplistic; it is any strategy that includes an attack against an opponent.

A defensive strategy refers to an action taken against the attack itself. It’s not an action taken against any person or entity.
