What genetic abnormality occurs in CF?

A

Autosomal resessive
Transmembrance conductance regulator protein on chromo 7:
- reduce chloride secretion from epithelium
- reduced Na absorption from lumen

They cause reduced airway surface liquid, sticky muscous, shearing and impaired bacterial killing.
