Q

Why is Japan so densely populated in urban areas?

A
  • Almost half of Japan’s population live in the areas around Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka.
  • Cities are built on top of flat land, which made it easier for them to be built and expanded.
  • There are many ports and harbours along the coast, which has led to the input of raw materials, the export of manufactured goods, and development for a fishing industry.
