Q

What exactly is this bug ? Explain

A

While writing computer programs in 1980’s, engineers would use only last digits and leave out 19 (For ex 1989 would be written as 89). This was done to reduce the storage space of data on computers. However when year 2000 came , this problem arose

Q

What is the problem ?

A

As only last 2 digits are to be used, if 2010 is written as 10 , then computer would interpret it with the data of 1910. Thus all programming activities would be jammed and eventually destroyed. This affected sectors like IT, banking, transportation etc
