Age of 20
He had smallpox.
Smallpox was treated with tea made from Holly leaves.
Age of 30
He had Malaria, attacks of shivering.
It was treated with a plant called feverfew. The plant’s name meant fever cure.
Between the age of 30 and 35
Head Injury in a jousting contest.
Injuries were usually treated with periwinkle or sometimes it’s juice.
After he got his -first- head injury
Ulcer on leg.
Ulcers were treated with pastes made from leaves and clay and sometimes moldy bread and were called as poultices.
After getting one ulcer on one leg
He became overweight.
Age of 40
He got a serious head injury in a jousting contest which lead to headaches.
Bad wounds were sometimes kept open with small linen plugs so that bloody pus could drain out.
Between the age of 40 and 50
Ulcers on both legs.
Ulcers again were treated with pastes made from leaves and clay and sometimes moldy bread and were called as poultices.
Age of 50
Blood clot on lung? Not sure.
Resulting to problems with breathing.
Between the age of 50 an 56
Difficulty while climbing stairs.
This was because he became overweight.
His servants had to use a special machine to lift King Henry VIII upstairs.
At the age of 56…
Henry VIII met his death this year when he was 56 years old.
