What are common myopathy signs?
Stiffness and reluctance to mvoe
Why do many myopathies look similar?
Skeletal muscle has a limited pathological response
Where is CK produced?
Skeletal and cardiac muscle
After how long does CK peak?
4-6 hours and then cleared in days
Where is AST produced?
Skeletal and cardiac muscle, liver, RBCs etc
After how long does AST peak?
12-24 hours and cleared in 2-3 weeks
How can you diagnose a myopathy?
Submaximal exercise test and take blood samples pre-exercise and 4-6 hours later
What degree of CK rise suggests a sub-clinical exertional myopathy?
2-3x
How can you differentiate trauma and fibrosis?
Ultrasound
