BLOOD SUPPLY HL (reduced) Flashcards

1
Q

Blood vessels down to the stifle joint

MAIN

A

● A. Circumflexa femoris medialis (ex. A. Profunda femoris): runs through adductor
to ventral side of pelvic floor

● A. Femoralis (ex. A. Iliaca externa): passes through femoral canal, becomes a.
Poplitea between the heads of the gastrocnemius)

○ A. Saphena : together with:
v. Saphena & n. Saphena, SUPERF!
■ R. Cranialis (distal to stifle!)
■ R. Caudalis (distal to stifle!)
○ Aa. Caudales femoris:
muscular vessels arising in caudal direction from the
femoral artery
■ A. Caudalis femoris proximalis :
sometimes with a. Saphena, otherwise from a. Saphena

Q

Blood vessels of the hindlimb distal to the stifle joint

A

● A. Poplitea (ex. A. Femoralis):
goes between HEADS of gastrocnemius muscle, and
between tibial and popliteal muscle
○ A. Tibialis caudalis: comes from a. Poplitea cranial to the popliteal muscle

● A. Tibialis cranialis:
= continuation of a. Poplitea, runs very close to tibia

● A. Dorsalis pedis:
= continuation of a. Tibialis cranialis,
from tarsal joint down
