1
Q
Maintaining Internal Balance
A
- all organisms have to stay within a tolerable range
- changing in external environment can affect change in internal environment
- its survival abilities is dependant on their ability to maintain their internal env.
-
2
Q
Homeostasis
A
Physiological sate where internal and external envr are kept within a tolerable range
It is NOT a steady state, and is a dynamic process that is continuely adjusted in response to changes in internal env.
3
Q
The Internal Environment
A
- Refers to extracellular fluid
- Includes intestinal fluid, ( fluid between cells, tissue, and plasma)
- Volume, temp, chemical composition change cange
- neg changes
4
Q
Organs involved in homeostasis
A
- Excretory system
(waste, liquid) - circulatory system
(deliver hormones, chems throughout body) - nervous system
( works with E.S, recieves sensory info from environment) - endocrine system
(secrete hormones) - intergumery system
(Maintain body temp) - Immune system
5
Q
Tasks nessesary for survival
A
- taking in nutritns
- Protection
- reproduction
- Disposing wastes products
- synthesizing proteins, fats, or carbs
