Smog of stubble burning Flashcards

1
Q

What is Smog?

A

-fog + dust + air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds, etc. which combine with sunlight to form a dense layer of ground-level ozone->it can cause irritating health effects.

[FOG + DUST + AIR POLLUTANTS + SUNLIGHT = GROUND LEVEL OZONE]

Q

What are the health impacts of smog?

A
  1. inflame breathing passage->like cigarette smoking
    2.inflamed lungs->blood clots-> cardiac & respiratory disorders->heart attacks or strokes
  2. dry out protective membranes nose & throat
    4.reduces body’s ability to resist infection -> more illness
    5.decreased UV radiation-> low production of elements like Vit.D
    [BREATHING PASSAGE ; LUNGS ; HEART ; NOSE/THROAT MEMBRANE ; REDUCES IMMUNITY]
