How is the Snellen chart used?

A

Read the chart 20 feet from the chart. Normal vision is 20/20.

Ex. The first number is how far the patient is standing from the chart. The second number is how far a person with normal vision can read the chart. 20/200 a health person with 20/20 vision could stand back at 200 feet and see the chart.
