What are the duties of a supervisor under OHSA?

Answer 1

Ensure a worker:

• Works in the manner and with protective devices, measures and procedures required under the act and regulations
• Uses and wears the equipment, protective devices or clothing required to be worn or used

Without limiting the duties imposed:

• Advise a worker of the existence of any potential or actual danger to health or safety of the worker that the supervisor is aware of
• When prescribed, provide a worker with written instructions as to measures and procedures to be taken for their protection
• Take every reasonable precaution for the worker’s safety
